Automatic Updates via Wi-Fi
One way that we are saving you time is by making future updates even easier. Version 4.1 software for the LanTEK IV series will enable all future software updates to be downloaded and installed directly on the testers instead of the usual process of bringing the tester to the office for software updates. With this new feature, users will receive on-screen notifications that an update is available and simply tap to install, similar to a mobile phone app update. This update method is faster, more convenient, eliminates the need for a PC, and keeps testers up-to-date while remaining the field generating revenue.

Support for Fiber Optic Connector Inspection
Dirty, contaminated or damaged connectors cause the vast majority of failures in fibre optic systems and one dirty test cord can contaminate every connector it is mated to during field testing. LanTEK version 4.1 software adds support for the TREND USB Fiber Inspection Probe (p/n R163-VIP). The probe offers a crisp, clear digital image of multimode and single-mode connector end faces so users can be certain contaminants are not the cause of link failures. Using the latest in machine vision technology, the software tracks the fibre core in real-time, auto-captures the image when the connector comes into focus and analyses it against the IEC 61300-3-35 Edition 2 standard providing near instant pass/fail results of the connector quality.
Connector images and test results can be stored in LanTEK’s internal memort and exported to a USB thumb drive for archiving or uploading to TREND’s AnyWARE Cloud. The R163-VIP inspection probe is compatible with the full range of UPC and APC connector tips that are available for the FiberMASTER inspection probe, including MPO/MPT options.
Keep Up to Date with the Latest Standards
We know accuracy and high standards are non-negotiable for you. So our Version 4.1 software update will help ensure you are up to date with the latest standards. It includes the recently ratified TIA-568.3-E fibre optic standard, so you can prove support compliance and performance to the required level.
In addition, there is an increasing need to test for PoE compliance. With LanTEK IV-S there is no need for this to add additional test time, as the tester takes the DC Resistance Unbalance (DCRU) measurement as part of the seven-second autotest. However, version 4.1 provides LanTEK IV-S users with a +PoE variant of most test limits that requires the DCRU measurement to pass to certify that a cable will reliably support high power PoE applications.
